Loggerhead Turtle

Description

Loggerhead sea turtles are large, reddish-brown marine reptiles with massive heads and powerful jaws for crushing hard-shelled prey. They can grow up to 3.5 feet long and weigh over 400 pounds, have reddish-brown shells, and are found in temperate and subtropical oceans worldwide. Key identifiers include five coastal scutes on the carapace and a powerful, block-like head, and adult males have longer tails and claws than females.
