How To Complete The Submit Graphic Form
By submitting graphics with great supporting information your graphics are quickly approved and are then easily found by other members. Keep this guide in mind when submitting a graphic.
NOTE: All graphics are reviewed for quality and accuracy. We may update the graphic information to meet these guidelines. Your submitted graphic will not be available to the public until this review process is complete.
Register for a Free Account
Before uploading, you must be a registered member
✅ Tactile Graphic Name (title)
Write a clear and descriptive title. This will be used as the graphic’s primary title name for other members to find it with. It should be short and only describes the object. You don’t need to add a lot of additional information – Just the noun or object.
Example:
Correct: “Parts of a Leaf Diagram” or “Map of Africa” or “Frog”
Incorrect: “This is a Tactile Graphic of the parts of a leaf in diagram form”
✅ Tactile Graphic Image (max 3mb)
Click on the Choose File button. This will open a dialogue box for you to find the image you wish to upload on your computer or phone. Select the image on your device and click “open” this will add that image to the form for submission.
Image requirements:
- Image dimensions: No smaller than 800px by 800px. 2000 x 1500 pixels preferred.
- Image file size: No larger than 3MB
- Image format: Only .jpg, .png and .gif image files are accepted.
✅ Choose your graphic’s: Category
Choose the high-level subject category that best fits your graphic. Not sure what category? Review this simple Tactile Graphics Categorization Guide
Our team will refine your categorization and add sub-level categories to it and descriptive tags. For the Leaf Example: You would select the high level category: Natural Sciences. Our team would review and also add more detailed sub classifications such as “life sciences” and “Biology”. We will also add descriptive tags such as “Leaf”, “Leaves”, “parts of a tree”, “Foliage”
✅ Short Description
A one-sentence summary of what the graphic represents. This text is used on the website next to the graphic to give our members a quick understanding of what the graphic represents. Be short, clear yet descriptive. Use one to two sentences maximum.
Example: “A simple tactile diagram showing the parts of a leaf including stem, veins, and edges.”
✅ Full Description
A longer explanation of the graphic’s purpose and how it may be used. This can be a full paragraph. Be as helpful to the prospective user of the graphic as possible.
You can include intended lesson plan, teaching tips using the graphic, intended age level, or the students ability level necessary to use the graphic effectively.
Example: “This tactile graphic of a leaf is intended for elementary science instruction and shows the main parts of a leaf using bold lines and labeled callouts. It is designed with basic outlines and only the important details making it easy for blind students to easily identify specific parts. Intended to print on a standard 8×11 Swell Touch Paper.
Submit for Review
Click “Submit Tactile Graphic”. You will see a confirmation message that your submission is pending review.
What Happens Next?
Your graphic will be reviewed by the Tactile Library team to ensure it meets our standards for clarity, quality, and usability. Once approved:
- It will be published to the library for others to download.
- Your account will be updated to reflect your new approved submission.
- It will count toward earning rewards for your contributions. Learn About Rewards Program.
